Opening for Pianist / Drummer at St. James A.M.E Zion Church

St. James is a warm and welcoming church community looking for an available pianist and drummer for Sunday service and occasional afternoon services. Music selections include traditional hymns and contemporary worship and gospel songs. Choir leading experience for the pianist is a plus. Salary will be discussed during interview.

Application Guidelines


This year, we have increased our funding and will make awards of $5,000 each to twenty artists and writers. Additionally, we will name ten award finalists.

Our awards offer unrestricted cash, and recipients can use the funds as they see fit.

Our program is an award program that rewards excellence in a creative field (note that this is different from a grant program, in which the application is focused on a proposal for new work).

Our selection process is focused almost entirely on the strength of the submitted portfolio. (more…)

Call for Artists: Arts Mid-Hudson Pop-Up Galleries

Arts Mid-Hudson curates pop-up art exhibits in office buildings, restaurants, and other venues. This is a great opportunity for artists to display and sell their work, and we invite all artists to submit artworks. The application deadline for new membership in the Jazz Touring Network is Friday, August 25, 2017.

Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation’s Jazz Touring Network is a presenter-based membership program that provides support for professional development opportunities and performance fee subsidies for its participants. The primary objective of the Jazz Touring Network is ensuring vibrant and diverse jazz presenting in the mid-Atlantic region while simultaneously increasing the number of nonprofit venues in the mid-Atlantic region that present jazz on a regular basis, particularly in communities underserved by the arts (defined for the purposes of this program as populations whose opportunities to experience the arts are limited by geography, ethnicity, age, economics, or disability).  (more…)

CALL for ARTISTS! Surrender to Small: Small Works Juried Art Show

Does size matter? How does size limitation impact an artist’s style and expression? Artists are asked to recalibrate their individuality and explore new possibilities through their small works.

The Volition Gallery announces its ‘Surrender to Small‘: Small Works Juried Art Show from Nov. 12, 2017 – Jan. 5, 2018. ART SHOW RECEPTION, NOV. 12th, 2pm-5pm. Free admission, refreshments and music.

CALL FOR ARTISTS: Open to all artists in New York, Connecticut and New Jersey. Painting, drawing, photography, collage, printmaking, ceramics and sculpture are all welcome. Artwork must not exceed 12” x 12”, including frame or base. Artwork weight limited to 25 lbs. If applicable, artwork must be framed and ready to hang.

Entry Fees: $30 for first 3 entries, $5.00 for each add’l entry (max. 5 entries total)
Deadline: October 1, 2017.


International Grant Deadline: USArtists International 2017-2018

USArtists International supports performances by U.S. dance, music, and theater ensembles and solo artists invited to perform at important cultural festivals and performing arts marketplaces anywhere in the world outside the United States and its territories. Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation is pleased to announce the release of the 2017-2018 program guidelines and application deadlines. Applications for Round I are due September 7, 2017 at 11:59 PM ET for engagements between December 15, 2017 and December 14, 2018

“Right To Unmake” CAA panel examines Lego-like creativity

The practice of unmaking can be distinguished from remix culture by its granularity (think dismantling a Lego creation into component bricks) and its transformative potential (reassembled Lego sets need not bear any resemblance to the original). Unmaking is also different from the deconstructionist impulse found in post-structuralist literature or architecture, in that unmaking aims less to undermine the stability of the original text than to craft an entirely new one.
