Howland Chamber Music Circle 2016-17 Season

unnamedThe award-winning Howland Chamber Music Circle begins our 24th season in September. Once again we bring the finest chamber music ensembles and soloists to the Hudson Valley in a setting ideally suited for chamber music–the Howland Cultural Center in historic Beacon, NY.  Be sure to subscribe now to secure your seats this season.

We’re excited to present the Juilliard String Quartet in one of their first concerts with their new cellist, Astrid Schween. The Alexander String Quartet—perennial favorites of ours—will return to the hall for the 11th time. Also returning are the critically acclaimed Escher String Quartet, Boston-based Walden Chamber Players and theJasper String Quartet. The Jasper is especially beloved by students in the area who have worked with them through our educational outreach program.
New to our series this season will be the dynamic Israeli Chamber Project. Also performing for the first time for us will be the Imani Winds,  the premier woodwind quintet, with their new clarinetist Mark Dover. In our tradition of presenting young, new musicians, we will be presenting violinist In Mo Yang who is still an undergraduate student but already winning major competitions and dazzling the critics with his hugely successful Carnegie Hall debut.
Our Piano Festival is always extremely popular and no doubt this season will be the same. Jeremy Denk, who first performed for us some 14 years ago, will be returning, as will the Finnish pianist Juho Pohjonen whom we last heard in 2013. And for the first time at the Howland, young pianist Fei-Fei Dong, who made an estounding Carnegie Hall debut this past year, will be performing. This year the festival includes an exciting program of 4-hand piano works performed by Peter Serkin and Julia Hsu.
The intimacy of the Howland Cultural Center enhances our concerts, but it also means that many of our concerts sell out each season, so be sure to secure your seats with a subscription. When deciding if a subscription is right for you, remember our generous exchange policy; if you are unable to attend a concert you may inform us prior to the concert and exchange your tickets for a future concert, assuming that concert is not already sold out.

For those that have already subscribed, tickets will be mailed in mid-August. Sales of tickets to individual concerts will also begin in mid-August.
