Closing Reception Sunday, January 28th
3-5 pm

Theo Ganz Studio
149 Main Street

TheoGanz Studio is pleased to present the second solo exhibition of artist Chantelle Norton, Dog Days, which will include, initially, 14 oil paintings ranging in sizes from 5 x 5 to 18 x 24 inches; original drawings and limited edition giclées. Please join us for the opening reception on November 11th from 6-8 PM. The exhibition runs through January 28, 2018.

This extensive body of work explores the relationship between dog and human through the artist’s vibrant oil paintings, drawings and elaborate pattern-making. The paintings convey close-ups of beloved pets’ paws stretched out against a backdrop of patterns from bed linens, blankets and rugs. Norton’s dog drawings depict the diversity of breeds and their soulfulness, from purebreds to street dogs. A composite giclée, in a limited edition of three, has been produced of 56 individual drawings of the various breeds. A wallpaper installation on the gallery’s back wall combines drawings from the myths of Artemis and Actaeon, as well as views of our own Hudson Valley in a tour de force of vignettes that lead us through our own mythologies of time and place; a giclée has also been produced in a limited edition of three of this work.

A catalogue, which includes a statement by the artist as well as 14 full-color photographs of the paw paintings plus two of the drawings, can be viewed online through the link below and can be purchased as a hard copy at the gallery.
