The Beacon Historical Society is celebrating its 40th anniversary in November 2016. We would like you to celebrate with us.  Our theme “Hats off to the Historical Society” is referencing Beacon’s connection to the hat industry at the turn of the century.  From the time of the Civil War until the 1960s, Beacon churned out hundreds of thousands of hats in 11 major factories! We were considered the Hat Capital of New York State second only to Danbury CT.

In November, the Beacon Historical Society will host an exhibition at the Howland Cultural Center that will include a history of the Society as well as many interesting topics about Beacon. The exhibit will open on November 5 with a reception from 1:00 -5:00 pm.

We invite artists to create original artwork on a wooden hat cutout to help celebrate Beacon’s history, raise awareness, and provide funding to help secure a new home for the Historical Society. These hat cutouts will be on display at Beacon Bath & Bubble during October and again for the month of November at the Howland Cultural Center.
