Artist Reception and 15th Anniversary Party: July 14th, 5 – 8pm
172 Main Street – Beacon
RiverWinds Gallery is celebrating its 15th year in business (making it the longest-running gallery in Beacon) with “Shining in the Night,” new work by Elizabeth Rundquist. The Artist Opening and 15th Year Celebration is during Beacon’s Second Saturday, July 14, from 5-8 pm. The show runs through August 5, 2018
“I am pleased to present this new body of work,” says Rundquist. “It is a departure for me, in that I have used gesso, six shades of white acrylic paint — including shiny and transparent – and added in the mix pastel and charcoal! I had a delightful time! My hope is that the viewer can find pleasure in my work.
“Sometimes an image will emerge full-blown, other times there is a wrestling match going on. Increasingly a particular place will serve as a jumping-off spot from which to pivot. Pulling something out of nothing, making some kind of visual order in the midst of chaos of life is a gift I cherish.”
Rundquist has been a painter for more than 40 years. In 2014 she was inducted into the National Association of Woman Artists. She trained at the Art Student’s League of New York, studying with Leo Manso, Robert Beverly Hale and Marshall Glazier. At Brooklyn College she studied with Lee Bontecue and Lennart Anderson. At the Art Center of Northern New Jersey she studied with Edla Cusick and Joe Terrone. She is an artist and an art psychotherapist.
