Gwenno James creates one of a kind and custom clothing for special occasions, including weddings, for bride and mother of the bride. Unique fabrics are hand dyed and printed on the premises and the garments are all sewn on location at the designer’s working studio and boutique at 17 East Main St. We also offering hand painted scarves and custom pillows. www.gwennojames.com

Did you start in Beacon?
If yes, why did you decide to start your business here?
I found a lovely location on Beacon’s East Main Street where I could have a fabric printing studio and sewing/making space alongside a boutique, retail shop.
Is there one thing about your business that you would really like folks to know?
I love to create clothing which compliments the individual, in style, color and silhouette. Please do not hesitate to come by if you are looking for a special garment for an event and I will be happy to discuss options and ideas.
When did you become a member of BeaconArts and why?
I became a member of Beacon Arts about five years ago when I first participated at Beacon Open Studios. It was great to connect with other artists in Beacon and it was a unique opportunity to show my work to the public.

Do you have a favorite place, event or thing to do in Beacon?
Walking along the river path at Denning’s Point with my dog and husband.
How do you think Beacon is different from other Hudson Valley cities?
I enjoy the connection to the Hudson River, Mount Beacon and a vibrant Main Street.
Using your imagination, describe Beacon five years from now.
Still a great city that is beloved by all who live here.
