At its Annual Meeting on January 31, 2018, Beacon’s arts community voted in four new Board Members, adding to the 5 current members that will continue their terms.
The 2018 Executive Committee and Members-at-Large for BeaconArts are:
Rick Rogers, President
Theresa Goodman, Vice President
Aaron Verdile, Treasurer
Linda Pratt Kimmel, Secretary
A revised vision and mission statement for the organization was also announced by outgoing President, Kelly Ellenwood:
BeaconArts is the artery through which much of the city’s creative efforts flow and manifest.
BeaconArts’ mission is to foster and encourage the advancement of the City of Beacon as a center for arts and culture. We work to enable resident artists of all disciplines to live and thrive in Beacon by widely promoting their projects and events, as well as to develop and facilitate inspiring creative experiences and programs that promote a vibrant community and enrich the lives of our local citizens.
“The new board is an fantastic mix of artists, gallery owners and professionals – all very capable of leading the organization into its next phase,” said now Ex-Officio member Kelly Ellenwood. “I’m grateful that our community has such depth of character and ability.”
The organization’s membership includes artists, galleries, specialty shops, restaurants, services, and other arts minded individuals, businesses and organizations who recognize the value in supporting local arts.
The Annual Meeting took place at the Beacon Institute for Rivers and Estuaries/Clarkson University Gallery at 199 Main Street, Beacon. The BeaconArts RETROSPECTIVE:15 exhibit is currently on view in the gallery, celebrating 15 years since its founding in November 2002.
