Once a year artists of Beacon, New York open their art studios to the public. This free, citywide, weekend long event has become one of the largest of its kind in the Hudson Valley. This year marks our 11th Anniversary!

Now in its eleventh year, Beacon Open Studios is one of the largest events of its kind in the Hudson Valley, highly anticipated each year by artists and visitors alike! This year the free, citywide event will be held the third weekend of May. Visitors can pick up BOS brochures and maps for a self guided tour of artist studios. Beauty Among the Ruins,” featuring photos by Nancy Faulds of the abandoned Scranton Lace Factory. “My formal studies were not in photography but in Interior Design,” explains Ms. Faulds. “I worked in this field both on commercial and residential projects for 25 years, meanwhile gradually developing my eye and skills as a photographer. Over time my interests have shifted from landscapes and ‘found abstracts’ to the challenges of discovering beauty in spaces that at first seem ugly and decrepit.” (more…)

Zachary Skinner: Troubled Waters addresses the damaging effects of climate change in relation to water, human survival, geoengineering, and the Anthropocene landscape. The exhibition includes photographs from the series Wandering Nomad Anthropocene Landscapes. Considered “eulogies for the land,” my giclée prints are glimpses of nature from the point of view of a wandering nomad. The nomad reflects on erosion, a deep freeze that may mean the demise of native flora, and industrial detritus littering a beach. The images in this series are meant to evoke a lost balance within the landscape and a sense of apprehension. (more…)

New art exhibition featuring representational landscape and still-life paintings by renowned American painter, Keith Gunderson.  Ongoing through Sunday, May 5th. Mr. Gunderson is a current and past member of the Salmagundi Club, Hudson Valley Art Association, Audubon Artists and the Oil Painters of America. Exhibited widely, his drawings and paintings are in numerous private and corporate collections. All works in this exhibition will be for sale. Keith Gunderson studied under the renowned painters Frank Mason, Harvey Dinnerstein, David Leffel and Richard Schmid. (more…)
