Project Manager Reports

~Beacon Open Studios- May 21-22

  • catalogs available tomorrow (April 28)
  • Kickoff show at 2 Way Brewery opens May 14, kickoff party following Friday May 20

~BAEF- Upcoming school district elections

  • Calico Ball in works
  • Meredith Heuer stepping down and running for BCSD Board of Ed
  • Anna Bergin and Lori Merhige will take over BAEF

~BIFF

  • fundraiser in June

~Windows on Main and Beacon 3D

  • (public sculptures, to be installed mid-May) in planning stages, more info to be announced

~Other

  • Margaret Fuller writer and poet in mid-19th century, living in Beacon during significant writing; wrote ‘Woman in the 19th Century’
  • historical marker dedication on May 21 at Polhill Park; info on website
  • commissioning new piece of music to be performed and fundraising to support it

Communications

  • First Annual Appeal a success and accompanying communication keeps on working to spread the word about what we do
  • Dutchess County Tourism event upcoming- continuing to increase awareness of our mission and activities
  • New BeaconArts ads in various publications, radio

Other Business

  • Many upcoming events posted on website- check online and submit your events to be listed
  • Music events at Howland Center
  • Voting for BCSD (school board) upcoming May 17- vote at library in community rm
  • Ree-Play fundraising sale this wknd April 29, 30, May 1 at Univ Settlement Theater for the city, schools, and parks
  • Bannerman Island news and events (posted)
  • Manitoga tour season starting May 13. Peter Bynum as this yr’s artist in residence, installing inside house
