Overview of Programs/Projects

American Center for Folk Music– no new updates; plans to get 501c3 soon; fundraising; planning programs

Beacon 3D-Ten sculptors lined up for 2017. Also the recent purchase/acquisition of Merhige sculpture, to be installed on city property, May 15 opening

Beacon Open Studios– May 13-14, catalogs going to printer on Mon; 53+ artists signed up

Beacon Independent Film Fest– Terry Nelson- submissions still going on, beaconindiefilmfest.org
Sept 15-17; teaching after school program- made PSA’s on FB page

Beacon Arts & Education Foundation
primarily raising money to support arts funding in schools; Calico Ball in works

Keys to the City– Ed Benavente
-Fall 2017- installing pianos in public spaces for people, esp children, to play and interact with
-Promoting access to the arts and music education for all citizens
-4 pianos so far- looking to acquire more

Beacon and Beyond
-BeaconArts will have table/info at Visitor Center- need volunteers for 2nd Sats- Signups, 3-5 and 5-7pm

-May 6 Maker Fair at Settlement Camp- BeaconArts will be sponsor
-Units of Love Blood Drive May 7 with Beacon Hebrew Alliance at Tompkins Fire House (across from City Hall)
-Equinox music series at Howland to start 4/7
-Ongoing and new exhibits (Anne Truitt opens 5/6), tours and events at Dia Beacon– community day in May
-Pilgrim Pipelines forum at Howland Center April 4 7pm
-Beacon Sloop Club festivals- seeking ppl for kids craft activities; also Activist Puppetry event

Grant Deadline Reminder: USArtists International 2016-2017

USArtists International supports performances by American dance, music, and theater ensembles and solo artists invited to perform at important cultural festivals and arts marketplaces anywhere in the world outside the United States and its territories. Applications for Round III are due April 5, 2017 at 11:59 PM EST for engagements between July 1, 2017 and June 30, 2018.

New for this round: Artists and ensembles invited to perform at significant international festivals abroad focused on youth and families are also eligible to apply for USArtists International funding.
