WHAT: The Dutchess County Arts Council would like to invite all members of the press to meet the recipients of the 2012 Dutchess County Executive’s Arts Awards at a reception/press conference. The press reception is sponsored by our host, Villa Borghese.
WHEN: Monday, August 6, 2012, 4:30-6pm.

2012 marks the 26th Anniversary of the Dutchess County Executive’s Arts Awards. This year’s recipients, listed below, will be available on August 6th for interviews and photographs. County Executive Marc Molinaro, Board Members of the Arts Council and previous award recipients will also be in attendance.
Winners of the 2012 Arts Awards, and the categories in which they are being honored, are:
Mrs. Oakleigh B. Thorne – Patron
A Millbrook resident and avid supporter of the arts at all levels in Dutchess County.
BMW of the Hudson Valley’s Beacons of Music – Art In Public Places
A mural comprised of photographic portraits of local musicians in windows of an empty Beacon warehouse.
Billy Name – Individual Artist
A Poughkeepsie native and American photographer, filmmaker and lighting designer.
The Wassaic Project – Arts Organization
Creators of a summer festival that attracts a local and international mix of artists and participants.
Processional Arts Workshop – Business
Red Hook artists Sophia Michahelles and Alex Kahn create puppets for national and international events while remaining active and invested in the Hudson Valley.
Masque & Mime Society of Roy C. Ketcham High School – Arts In Education
A student-run and learning-focused organization that encourages learning through hands-on participation.
Rhinebeck Chamber Music Society – Special Citation
Chamber music featuring world-renowned professionals, as well as local and emerging artists.
Delswan Madden – Youth with Exceptional Promise in the Arts
An emerging hip-hop artist, emcee and lyricist.
Recipients will receive their awards at The 2012 Arts Awards Event on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, 5:30pm, when Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro will be joined by members of the Dutchess County Arts Council and civic leaders during a dinner ceremony at The Villa Borghese in Wappingers Falls.
