Walkway Over the Hudson, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was the driving force behind the creation of the Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park, the longest pedestrian and cycling bridge in the world. Since it opened to the public in October, 2009, the Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park has proven extremely popular, drawing nearly half a million visitors in just four months. Walkway Over the Hudson is seeking an Executive Director who will work with the Board of Directors to oversee and manage this dynamic nonprofit, which now supports operations of and long term planning for the Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park. This position will include managing one part-time administrative assistant, who will be responsible for day-to-day office functions.Responsibilities: * Set short- and long-term goals for the organization. * Collaborate with Walkway partners including representatives from Office of NY State Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, the New York State Bridge Authority and the Dyson Foundation. * Oversee and implement all fundraising activities, including membership, event planning, grant writing, merchandise sales, and in-kind donations. * Oversee all public relations functions, including conducting press outreach, maintaining the Walkway website, and production of all collateral materials such as brochures, flyers, rack cards, etc. * Oversee coordination of volunteer activities. * Oversee all financial, cash flow and budgeting functions including reviewing and approving all invoices, overseeing the annual audit process, and reviewing all quarterly and year end State, Federal and other required tax filings. * Annually review all insurance requirements. Qualifications: * A Bachelor's (B.A.) degree is required (advanced degree preferred although a combination of education and related work experience may be substituted). * Must be a self-starter, have strong initiative and ability to follow through with tasks. * A demonstrated ability in fundraising. * A high level of computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word is required. Internet competence and a high degree of familiarity and/or ability to work with a variety of membership and fundraising software is also desirable. * Excellent verbal and written communications skills as well as ability to work with a wide variety of people. * Availability to occasionally work nights and weekends. * Strong organizational skills and the ability to balance competing priorities. * Some travel is required and candidates must have their own method transportation.
