BACA Annual Meeting: BACA Board Elections plus Percussion Wizard, Jeff Haynes, January 27, 2010
Its may be cold outside but our BACA Lounge Series is heating up with its kick off January 27th Thaw Meeting starting at 6:30 pm with the hot sounds from the one and only Percussion Wizard, Jeff Haynes.  Jeff has graciously offered to host our meeting at his recording studio located at 14 York Street, Beacon, NY 12508 (e mail me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it if you need directions – its just five minutes from the Old High School).  We will have a unique opportunity to listen to Jeff’s music and hear a little bit about this man’s music journey and the many places it has taken him.

Music is art and this man is music.  He has toured and recorded extensively with Cassandra Wilson.  He has toured with Pat Metheny Group, Al Jarreau, Boney James, Lizz Wright, Harry Belafonte, Dionne Farris and Peabo Bryson.  He has over 100 CD recording credits.  He was the 2008 recipient of the Dutchess County Arts Council Arts–in-Education Partnership Grant.  He has been working with the Beacon School district and the Hudson Valley community doing music workshops teaching children the value of music education (www.jeffhaynesmusic.com).

“I was watching Ed Sullivan with my parents when the Beatles came on.  I was so taken by the band and the audience screaming that I just kept creeping closer and closer to the set and getting more and more charged until I pulled the TV down on myself — my father had a fit!  I guess you could say it was my first attempt to literally get inside the music,” Jeff confesses
