Image: River Beacons Mural by Rick Price Beacon Sloop Club's River Beacons Mural celebrates Beacon's river town heritage and lifestyle, the wooden sloop Woody Guthrie's 30th anniversary, and the statewide Hudson-Fulton-Champlain Quadricentennial. The painting, 15 feet high and 10 feet wide, hangs on the brick western wall of 172 Main St ; facing the little grassy lot on the corner of Cross Street and Main Street . The location makes this mural highly visible to Beaconites and visitors, inviting both to enjoy, preserve and celebrate our river town heritage. The artist is local Beacon resident, Rick Price. “We are really pleased with the support” says Kevin Haydon of the Beacon Sloop Club. “There is even a little surplus which we will use to create a permanent sign.” For more information about the Beacon Arts Community Association and the Clara Lou Gould Fund for the Arts, go to www.beaconarts.org .
