BACA Submission Guidelines

Event Promotion:  When your business has a Beacon special event, or artists when you or your work are in an event inside or outside of Beacon, we will post those events on our website.  The events outside of Beacon will be posted as news.  Beacon events will be posted in the events section.   Please send all information two weeks in advance


BACA Newsletter: All event information will be also be emailed to our subscriber list as part of our weekly newsletter. In addition, the newsletter can be a place to spotlight your work as an artist or your business.  We are happy to include news of you or your business in the following sections of the newsletter: 

At Work – features BACA artists with an image of their work and a link to their website and information about where their work can be seen.

On Walls – is a comprehensive listing of all participating BACA galleries what’s currently showing.

On Tables  - is a section that features a restaurant with a link to website or menu: In Stores – features special offers from retail establishments.  Other special sections added as needed.

-Each submission should include contact info including:

  • name of submitter or gallery/store/organization
  • address or location
  • date of event

 

File Formats:


-We strongly suggest all image files be in JPEG or GIF format, and sized no greater than 600 pixels wide by 500 pixels tall. (Pixel size can be adjusted in Adobe Photoshop, or any of the free on-line image re-sizers listed at the bottom of this page)

-Document files should be sent as plain text or .doc files, either from Microsoft Word, Google Documents, Apple Pages, or any other program that saves on the Word format.

-Images not sent in these formats will result in delay or rejection of your posting due to the extra effort to convert it to a “internet-ready” format

* PDF files must be converted to document or jpeg files, and can result in loss of formatting. Also JPEG files containing text are not searchable by Google making your event less likely to be found by a Google search.


-Please do not send html files, including email newsletters, or emails from Constant Contact and other popular email services. These can not be transfered to the website directly, and must be re-formatted which is time-consuming and can result in a loss of information and/or images.

-All files for event submissions should be received by the 1st of each month to be included in the following Second Saturday listings. We select images to be put on the home page, and getting these files in a timely manner will help to streamline the process for all BACA members.

-Although we strive to maintain the highest quality web presentation for BACA and it’s members, we are completely a volunteer team, and rely on your help to get all of the data in a format and timely fashion that allows us to be as efficient as possible. We appreciate your help in this matter, and welcome all questions, comments, and suggestions on how we can make the BACA website a more valuable resource for members and visitors alike.
