40 Artists Paint the Hudson River Valley by Day,
Paintings are Auctioned off at Night at Scenic Hudson’s River Center!
Mill Street Loft Arts located at Scenic Hudson’s River Center at 8 Long Dock Road at Long Dock Park on Beacon, NY Waterfront, will present their first Hudson River Valley Plein-Air Paint Out & Art Auction on Saturday, June 2nd. Professional landscape painters from New York City to Albany will be painting beautiful Hudson Valley scenes during the day and return to the River Center on the Beacon Waterfront in late afternoon for a public viewing of their art work from 4:00 – 5:00pm. These newly created paintings will then be auctioned off to the public from 5:00 – 7:00pm. Each of the participating artists have also been invited to bring a second painting from their studios to auction off as well. As many as 80 works will be on view!
Auctioneer, Harmer Johnson, formerly of Sotheby’s, of London and New York will serve as Master of Ceremonies. This event will give the public a rare and unique opportunity to see an artist create and then immediately display his or her work. Many of the artists will be working on site on the River Center property at Long Dock Park which offers spectacular views of the Hudson River. Other artists will venture out into the mountains or paint at well known historic sights including Olana, Vanderbilt Estate, West Point and Boscobel. The public is likely to catch an artist in action at many of these locations between the hours of 8:00am and 3:00pm.
In addition to the Paint-Out & Art Auction, Mill Street Loft currently has another wonderful show – “The Great Hudson River Exhibition”- on view in the River Center Gallery through Sunday, June 24th, so the public can also enjoy this show as well on the Paint-Out day. This Great Hudson River show focuses specifically on the River and features fifty-five brilliant works of both traditional and contemporary paintings, pastels, photographs and mixed media works. The artists for this show were selected by the show’s juror, Asher Miller, a Curator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Many of the artists in this prestigious exhibition will also be participating in the Paint-Out & Art Auction.
