The Howland Public Library and Miss Vickie’s Music are proud to announce a calling for submissions for the first-ever Beacon Poet Laureate.  The applicants for this two-year term (Jan. 1, 2013-Dec. 31, 2014) position must reside within the boundaries of the Beacon City School District.

“We’re excited that we will have a Beacon Poet Laureate who will act as an advocate for poetry in our community,” said Alison Herrero, Adult Services Librarian at the Howland Public Library. Vickie Raabin, Owner of Miss Vickie’s Music, stated “This is something I am very proud of. I feel that this is another art form we should promote in Beacon .”
