Maria Lago is an accomplished artist whose work has featured prominently in private collections, museums and galleries in Europe and the United States. A long-time New York resident, Maria Lago is originally from Asturias, in Northern Spain and the magic and mystery of her art work is greatly influenced by the pre-historic caves paintings of the region. Each work is a thick mixture of materials such as plaster, glue, sand, shells, pebbles, and wood that she uses to cover the canvas, creating a base that resembles destroyed ruins or an eroded cave wall.
